Hello! After watching the presentations of all four groups, I am able to express with certainty that everyone contributed something useful and unique. Each group presented their topics with creativity, a well-structure, and good understanding of their topics. Every presentation granted a more in-depth view of social systems and their impacts on people, in the U.S. and globally. Group 1: Immigration and the U.S. Economy Group 1 looked at immigration from the angle of its connection to the economy of the U.S. Christina started off by defining immigration. She really clarified these concepts very well by discussing the difference between legal and illegal immigration which was very helpful in building the audience's knowledge of the topic. Christopher then described the reasons for people's migration, developing the background for understanding the group's effects before the presentation got to the group's conclusions.       Participating in the Civic Engagement group project was one of the most insightful experiences of this semester. My group presented on the topic of Healthcare and Immigration. The goal of this project was to explore how civic engagement, immigration policies, and healthcare systems connect to one another. It helped me understand that civic responsibility extends beyond community service it also includes understanding policies that affect people’s well-being. Through this process, I learned the value of research, teamwork, communication, and organization.   Juseth Lopez's Reflection  Learning Beyond the Slides When our class started preparing for the group presentations, I honestly thought it would just be another regular project. I imagined it would be about doing research, organizing information, and presenting it in front of everyone. But once we actually started and I listened to all four groups, I realized how much more there was to it. These presentations were not just about facts and slides; they were about people, stories, and how everything in our world connects.   Group 4: Environment and Safety of the People They went into detail of every part of how the U.S. protects their people and how the environment affects this process.  I love how during this whole presentation the speakers come in pairs where one would address a specific topic and then another person will answer them or do the opposite part of the presentation. It really showed their teamwork and unity. First, Suri talks about the environment and how the US approaches these issues. Comparing how other countries protect their environments. Questions that she brought up were a really smart approach to her presentation. They were generalized towards the environment and how the U.S. tackles them. Roger presented the international version of Suri's presentation. How other countries take their approach to environmental issues.   Kaylie Gonzalez Reflection When I first heard we’d be doing group presentations, I didn’t know what to expect. Part of me was nervous—public speaking has never been something I feel completely comfortable with. But another part of me was curious, because this assignment wasn’t just about presenting; it was about learning how to present. On top of that, it was on Zoom instead of in person. Presenting from home felt less intimidating, but it also brought its own challenges. I had to think not only about what I was going to say but also about how to engage an audience through a screen. Even small things, like camera angle, lighting, and background, suddenly became part of the presentation process. Hello Everyone! I can vividly recall my very first impression when we had this group project for the first time. It was, Praise the Lord, the presentation will aid us in improving our presentation skills. I had thought that presenting in my house would be the easiest, considering I had no one in front of me, just me, my slides, and the laughter that I had prepared. Even in my own room, I was not prepared for the nerves. I was shaking, my hands were sweating, and it was just one of those events that I constantly worrying about messing up. Surprisingly, I have to say that the class was equally informative and I pondered over the ideas simply by listening to my peers almost as much as by presenting my own. It was quite an experience, every group had something to offer and collaborating as one helped tremendously.
